Here for you a journey over various faces of Electro from the softness of disco to the rythms of Hip Hop and New Wave or pre Techno.
Disco sucks, punk has no future, new wave is gathering new synths and computers and techno is clearly starting to bounce and grind... but obviously these 3 ou 4 years were an incredible croassroad from disco funk to electronic music.

Lots of awful tracks were recorded at that time, I had to listen thousands of pieces to select 60 of them an then mixing these 16 gems in a story I truly enjoy !
No trace of Parliament here but they flashlight the whole story !

Definitly New York !!!

I used to buy records @Kiswell's a few years ago and when I finished this mix I said to myself "Wow 8 tracks on 17 come from records I bought there !!!", so I naturally called this one like this...
At that time we were working on a specialized compilation that finally came out under the name of "The Urge".
Check it all out, Bamboo Child, Windy Wendy, Name of the Game were part of the selection or chosen for the final tracklisting.
I mixed the tracks in the tempo when I could and re-edited some of them to build a mix I still listen to with pleasure many years after.
I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do, this the way music goes to me.

Ah Library Music, such a universe of its own...
Lots of terrible things have been said against it.
Many too many good things too !
In fact it surely is and has been a very good way for musicians and arrangers to try new ways of making music.

I began this mix with Bob James then Hubert Laws then back to Bob James... at that point it made a majority for CTI so I chose a title in consequence. Thanks to Bob Ciano for the graphic covers that made a huge part of CTI's identity (check out Waxpoetics Issue 11).

I also could have called it "Can't hide love in my city eyes" !!!!
It's more a selection than a mix I let the tracks last from the beguinning til the end mostly.
The end...with 3 magnificient versions of "Can't Hide Love" written by producer, arranger and songwriter Skip Scarborough who also worked with Donald Byrd, Bobbi Humphrey, Con Funk Shun, George Benson...

Here's a serie of mixes presenting different sorts of music.
I've made them last around 45mn because it's the duration of a subway deambulation, or a walk through the town.
To beguin with, a double mix of disco classics mixed as if it was house, I mean a little bit longer than 4 or 8 beats.
Sometime the track is re-edited and I used a few simple effects such as delays, reverbs and filters...
